On Saturday the 31st of July Rinsed let loose in true old school warehouse style to celebrate their 1st birthday.
Being at the forefront of the Christchurch Hardcore scene, Rinsed secured Australia's No.1 Hardcore DJ, WEAVER. Weaver is currently
signed to the world's No.1 hardcore label, "Raverbaby".
As you would expect, both resident Nitrate DJ's Crisis and Disorder came to the party early (7pm, and yes we were there
until 7am!) to hang the recently constructed "Like it Hard?" banner and lend a hand if needed. Finding that Rinsed had a bit more
experience and few more people helping out than we had been expecting, we were left to stand in the cold admiring the huge warehouse,
beefy sound system and UV murals. Slowly our wait came to an end as Bennett beefed out the Chill Zone with some hardcore gang* beats yo!
Finally Antz (AKA Firefly) turned on the much needed heaters. Soon after Crisis and Disorder hit the decks before Skywalka and Focus
took control.
Not really cranking yet as people were still arriving, I travelled mindlessly backwards and forwards between the
Main Zone and the Chill Zone. Finally deciding that the Chill Zone was the place to be I sat down and listened to the soothing sounds
of uplifting trance. By 9:30 Focus and Skywalka had a reasonable crowd going in the Chill Zone (big ups to the Nitrate members there!)
and a strange looking trance guy was going hard. Coming up to 10:00 it was The Nitrate Collective's (Crisis b2b Disorder) turn to drop
a tune or to. Creating some "Disorder" (no pun intended :-p) on the dance floor, I seamlessly mixed up some cranking NuSkool hardhouse
(Dance Floor - Justin Borne and Dynamic Intervention) with some huge uplifting trance anthems. Scaring off the strange trance guy the
two of us attracted a huge crowd of younger followers ready to party the night away. Time passed quickly and before I knew it I was
getting ready to drop the last tune. With true style Crisis had dropped Heaven's Cry - Till Tears Do Us Part (If you don't know what
this is, you haven't lived) with enough energy to get Bennett raving on behind the decks.
By now the party was only just beginning to warm up inside at the main room with Cosm getting ready to play some epic
psytrance and seriously insane beats. A few Rebulls, half a cosm set and a lot of talking later, I was ready for the big night.
Gearing up for Aussy's No.1 Hardcore DJ isn't something that happens everyday! At 1am Firefly and Circus warmed up the crowd with
oldskool hardcore that truly did seem to inspire that original rave feeling amongst everyone there. Coming up to 2am we saw Weaver
lurking in the background of the Rinsed DJ's huge set looking eager to get his hands on the turntables (which he never used because
of the exclusive Raverbaby CDRs!!). I ventured up onto the main stage to get a glimpse of the overwhelmingly huge crowd and wow,
seriously stumped for words I clambered around to find my stuff then got the hell outa there to rejoin the amping crowd.
Finally after what seemed like a lifetime, Weaver finally made his presence know among the crowd by casually walking
to the decks and raising his hands to the air, to which the crowd in turn raised their hands to the air and screamed. Being signed to
Raverbaby Weaver played a set with nothing but (so I am told) Raverbaby tunes, many of which have yet to be released. Edam anyone? How
about Swiss or Cheader? Amazing set, amazing tunes but boy this guy can play some of the cheesiest hardcore ever! I'm sure Crisis was
right at home for the two hours of Weavers set....
At approximately 4am some random guy turned up with.....A laser! Much like the scream of the crowd at the beginning
of Weavers set, they screamed again as the big bugger of a thing cranked up to provide a toped off night to all the hardcore party goes
bouncing on the floor (I wasn't due to the big f*#! off line to the toilet). Finishing my dash to the loo, I immersed myself back among
the happy ravers to enjoy the lush visual stimulation from the crispy laser.
It's 4am....What does that mean?!? GABBER! Stompin' it up like no other, Adrenaline pumped out distorted kick drums
and screaming synths like we didn't have eardrums. Far too much for me, only the true hardcore remained pumpin' on in the midst of the
lights and lasers. I crashed on a couch to wait for the morning light too dawn on us.
Epic night, big ups to the Rinsed crew for a seriously mad night!
